Quick Tips and Guidelines

While we could write an entire post on the dos and don'ts of your link in the bio, here are a couple of links you can put in your bio on Instagram!

Align your Links with your Goals

The first thing you need to do is find out what you want to accomplish with your Instagram bio link.

Do not just put anything there — make sure it aligns with what you want people to do when they click on it. If you want them to buy something from your store or check out your product line or whatever it might be, make sure that is what is going to happen when they press that link button

For example, if you want to promote your podcast, and your main goal was to get more listeners. I would create content that would capture the attention of potential viewers and use the link in the bio to make it easy for them to listen ASAP!  I would put a link in my bio that people could go to if they want to hear more about that podcast. So that would be one link in the bio, and two links on the page itself (one for listening and one for subscribing).

Do not put too many links

It's best to keep it simple by only including a few links in your bio. This will let users easily click on the links and visit your site without feeling overwhelmed by all your options. If it's not an active offer, something you are optimizing, or something you just do not do anymore- do not link it.

I recommend linking only 4-5 links in your link tree, after that, it can sometimes be spammy or overwhelming to your audience.

Test all links

Make sure that each of your links works before adding them to your bio. A broken link will leave people wondering what happened and could even make them leave your page altogether.

What links should you put in your bio on Instagram?

Your website URL

Your website is your online home, and it should be the first thing people see when they click on your bio. Your website URL should be in your Instagram bio so that people can easily find it. If you do not have one yet, now is a wonderful time to create one!

You can also link from other platforms (like Facebook and Twitter) but it is best to have an actual link in the Instagram profile itself so that users do not have to search for it elsewhere or copy/paste it into a browser address bar.

If you're not using the social media pages - do not link to them. If it is a dead page or a dead end for your audience, there is no reason to link it!

Your email address

You cannot go wrong with your email. It is the most important communication channel and the best way to build relationships with clients and customers.

Your Freebie Opt-In Form

A freebie is an excellent way to get people on your list. You can give away any type of freebie--a sample product or service, an eBook, etc.--but make sure it's something that will help them in some way and not just take up space on their computer

Offer something valuable enough that they'll want more of what you're offering by opting in for updates from your website or blog via email marketing software like Flodesk

A sales page

A sales page is a website that you put up with the sole purpose of selling something. They are usually very simple, with just a few key elements:

  • A headline that explains what the product is and why it is great.

  • An image of the product itself, or an illustration of how it works (if applicable).

  • A description of what makes this item so great, along with any features or benefits that make it stand out from related products on the market.

You can also include details about shipping policies and order information if needed - but keep it short! The longer your sales page gets, the less likely people are going to stick around until they reach those all-important links at the bottom where they can buy whatever they want from you.

Service/Product Pages

If you want people to go somewhere specific on your website, or if you have a page that highlights your services and products, consider putting that URL in your bio.

Your services page is where you can show off all the amazing packages you have available. The best thing about having this link in your bio is that it will automatically show up as a link when users hover over it on their phone or tablet device. This makes it easy for people to click through and see what you have to offer without ever leaving your profile!

Your Limited Time offers

  • A countdown timer.

  • A discount code.

  • A time limit to encourage people to act fast, like 24 hours or less.

  • A time limit that encourages people to buy more than one product, like a bundle of three items at a discounted price (e.g., buy all three for $50).

Your phone number

Your phone number is the best way to reach you. It is easy for people to find, easy for you to monitor and respond to, and it can be added to your website.

Contact form/ Services Inquiry Page

Your contact form is a wonderful place to put the link to your services page. If someone wants to learn more about your services, they will be able to contact you right away.

I hope this article has helped you to understand the importance of having links in your bio on Instagram. It is a wonderful way to connect with your audience, build leads and increase sales!
