A Simple Guide to using Content Pillars for your Instagram

You might be an avid Instagram user, but have you ever wondered what goes into creating content that is easier and more engaging for your audience? The answer is simple: it's called "content pillars." Content pillars are a way to organize all the different types of content and themes you use on your Instagram account. They help you figure out how to create cohesive posts that make sense to your audience. In this post, I'll explain what content pillars are, why they're important for your business or brand, and how to create them yourself.

What are content pillars?

Content pillars are the key elements that define your brand and help you build your audience. They might be tied to your business goals, or they might simply be what you know to be true about yourself and how you want to present yourself on Instagram.

Let's say you're a fashion blogger. Your content pillar could be "work chic," since that's one of the things that make your brand unique among others in the same space. Or maybe it's "comfortable clothes" because that's what your audience wants most from their clothing choices (and because those two words go together nicely). If you don't have a clear idea yet about what makes up your brand, just think about why people follow you in the first place—what do they care about? What do they like? What draws them in?

Why do I need content pillars?

If you're looking to grow your Instagram account, there are a few things you should know about content pillars.

Content pillars are the types of posts that you want to create over and over again and use as a way to build your audience. Each pillar will have its own purpose, but they all serve the same purpose: they bring in new followers and keep them engaged.

Your content pillars should be things that people love seeing from you—that's why we recommend choosing one or two topics/categories and sticking with it for a while.

Content pillars are a great way to focus on your brand and tell a cohesive story. They can help you create content that is more consistent, but also unique. This will help you build a community around your business.

Content pillars are the foundation for your Instagram marketing strategy. They are the high-quality content that you post regularly and share with your followers. The goal is to build trust and credibility with your audience by consistently posting relevant information.

How to create Content Pillars

The first step to creating content pillars is to identify your audience. What age range? What gender? What interests? Once you know who your target audience is, you can create a list of different types of content that would appeal to them and brainstorm ways you can reach them.

You should also look at your products and services and determine which ones might be most appealing based on what customers are asking for or in need of. If there's something people don't know about but would benefit from learning, share it! This could be an article about how an item works or maybe even a tutorial video showing how easy it is to use.

Next, think about what makes up your brand as a whole: its values and mission statement; its personality; how others perceive it; etcetera—and then brainstorm how each one could influence what type(s) of content fits best within each pillar category (i.e., "I'm all about being eco-friendly," so I might want to include more articles related specifically towards that topic).

The number of pillars depends on how many different types of content you want to create. One way to decide what kind of posts each pillar should have been by looking at what's trending in the industry right now: if everyone else has one type of post with great engagement, then it might be worth trying out yourself too!

Each pillar needs its own unique hook or perspective; otherwise, they'll all blend into one stream where nothing stands out from anything else (and no one will remember any individual piece).

A content pillar is a collection of posts that are similar in style, topic, or tone. These collections can be used to create a brand identity, add variety to your feed, and increase engagement with followers.
