New Instagram Reel Feature to Add Topics to your Reels

New Instagram Reel Feature

Instagram is testing a new feature that would allow users to select three topics when posting to their reels. The feature is currently available on the web, but it's unclear if it will be rolled out to the app.

Instagram is adding a new feature to its reels that will give you more control over what your reel is about. You can now select 3 topics when posting to reels to describe to Instagram what your reel is about.

Instagram making its platform searchable

Instagram is introducing new features that will give creators more control over their content. The most significant announcement is the ability to pick two or three topics for each video you post to a reel. This allows creators to communicate what their reel is about, and helps viewers find videos they're interested in watching.

You can also add hashtags and descriptions to reels now, which makes them more discoverable in search results. These changes are all part of Instagram's efforts to make it easier for people to find accounts they love and engage with them more deeply on the platform.

PRO TIP - Make your Instagram Posts include keywords, that way your content is more searchable! This allows more users to find and discover your content :)

What will the Topics Include?

The first time you create a new reel post, you'll be asked to choose one topic from each category. These will then show up in your profile as well as in the Explore tab when someone searches for content related to that topic.

When they tap on one of these reel posts in Explore, they'll see all of the other reel posts related to that topic as well as any other types of content posted by different people who share the same interests or hobbies.

For example, if I'm interested in fashion and beauty then my Reel would show up when someone searches for those terms under "Interests" or maybe even under "Hobbies".

Why it's Great for Content Creators

This means that your followers don't have to scroll through dozens of videos that may not be relevant to them. They can just go straight to the ones they're interested in.

The new feature allows you to select one of three categories: lifestyle, beauty, or food. When posting, you can select which topic best fits your post and Instagram will display that category as a thumbnail below your video.

This is a great way for brands and influencers to get more visibility on the platform. It also makes it easier for the people who are viewing your reel to know exactly what they’re going to see.

This should be especially helpful for brands who want their ads to appear in front of specific audiences — like if you want all of your posts related to travel and tourism, beauty products, or cars, etc.
