How to know what the best time is to post on Instagram

If you're trying to grow your brand on Instagram, you might be tempted to post at the same time every day. That's fine if it works for you, but if your followers are on different schedules, this strategy could backfire. The best time to post depends on the type of content that you're sharing and the audience that you want to reach with it — which is why we love Instagram scheduling tools.

Analyze your followers

The next step is to analyze how your followers are interacting with your Instagram posts. To do this, you'll need to look at the demographics of your followers, as well as what their interests are and how they interact with your content.

  • Demographics:

  • Age range

  • Gender

  • Location (if applicable)

Start with your analytics

The first step to finding out when your followers are most engaged is to analyze your own account. Go to the Insights tab on Instagram and check out the engagement rate of your last 10 posts. You can also see what time you got the most likes and comments, as well as how many people saw each post.

1. Go to your profile and hit the "insights" button

2. Hit the "total followers" tab

3. Scroll to the bottom and tap on the blue bars to see specific numbers of your follower’s most active times!

4. Post 1 Hour before your most popular times! And focus on more story content days so your followers are more active!

Use an Instagram scheduling tool to post at the right time

To know when to post on Instagram, you will need to use an app that will help you schedule it. There are tons of tools out there, but only a few are worth your time and money.

You should look for an app that:

  • Can schedule posts in advance

  • It has an easy interface (it does not have to be pretty)

  • Is it free or priced

Tailwind

With Tailwind's scheduler for posting on Instagram, you can schedule your posts in advance so that they go live at their most effective times.

The scheduler will automatically pick the best time based on your followers' activity. It also has a feature that tells you if there are any major events coming up that could affect engagement—like concerts or sporting events—so that you can plan accordingly.

Flick

Hashtag research is a tool that lets you see when other people post to certain hashtags. You can search by hashtag and location, and it will tell you how many posts there were in the last 24 hours, as well as the engagement rate (how many likes, comments, and shares a post got).

Whether you are looking to increase engagement on your Instagram posts or boost sales, there are many factors that can affect how well they perform. The best way to figure out what works best is by testing various times and analyzing your results with tools like Instagram Analytics. Once you have determined which tactic yields the most positive results for your brand's needs, start posting
